Visit TeacherPop
I am not a member of an online community. I found the Flixster movie social network to be appealing. I am a movie lover at heart. I found it interesting that you can watch movies on the Flixster website. I could possibly use this tool for a holiday movie in the classroom as long as it is rated G. I would also use this at home when I have nothing better to do.
Thing #23
I found a site that is called 43things.com, which is a social networking website that was created in the year 2004. This example, tells me that the Teacher's Blog was based off of this website principals. The administration has tweaked the website original ideas of setting goal on the website. We simply have 23 things instead of 43 things. If I create video, poems, and pictures, Creative Commons will allow me to share and protect my work. I can see me using this for the classroom when we create different projects that are share amongst other people. Power-points are a way to use Creative Commons to reach others through video communicaton.

I listened to Joel Audio Podcast, Grace for Every Season of Life. I found Learn Out Loud to be the easiest directory. This thing has not inspired me to create a podcast for myself. I probably would if it included other students. I would definitely subscribe to Joel Osteens podcast and Joyce Meyers podcast. These two pastors are very encouraging and I love to listen to what they have to say. They always instruct you to make the most out of life and to line up with God.

This was my favorite thing to do! I really enjoyed making the video it came out great. The results are amazing for a 30 second video. The features were very easy to manipulate. I had no problem downloading my photo's from my flickr account. The best experience with web 2.0 yet!

I love YouTubeit is great for watching video. Almost, any topic can be found on the site. I chose this video because it really is a wake up call to current teachers and future teachers. The students that we encounter can easily get distracted by what we as teachers say and do.It becomes a matter of are we here to be a team player to teach the children or is it all about us. If it is about the children let us be on guard to make sure that we are doing what our job requires. The features that I found to be useful like partner videos could be applied to my library website. I could easily upload a video that applies to any subject being taught. The HD feature is nice to because everything is moving to High Definition.

I find it important for educators to social network for ideas. They can also benefit from others knowing their credentials, because it could open doors for something bigger and better in the career field. I gained new insight on how to join networks and why it can be beneficial to join. Another insight is linking text messages to your mobile phone. Lastly, I found out that Facebook has a payment window for any charges you may incur on Facebook. I like Facebook because it gives me a sense of safety and with MySpace I do not feel this way. I feel like MySpace maybe more user friendly. The site seem to have more accessible categories without having to search for a long period of time. MySpace also has an application for school searches under the word more. I like the way MySpace looks, but I am not convinced it is the social networking site for me.

I feel that Delicious is a great tool to collaborate with your co-workers. I find it to be a well organized way to share information. In the classroom, I could see PTA committee's using this tool. Also, it is a great tool to communicate between other teachers. Teacher's that are old or new could share ideas through their bookmarks and tags. The fact that you can access your work from anywhere makes it essential. Teacher's have many advantages using this tool such as: to network with each other even if it is with other teachers outside of their district. Another advantage would be the organized way your information could be accessed, laid out, and linked to other sites. This is a easy way to share.
Thing # 16
I chose iGoogle for my start page. I decided to use this one because I am familiar with Google. I picked an animated start page with a fox in a boat. It was so cute and eye-popping with color. I did chose to make it my permanent home page. The page is so vivid and very attractive.
The calendar could be used to keep me on schedule when I am at work or at home. It reminds you of upcoming events that will occur soon. After the completion of the calendar, I started a to do list which is called Ta da list. I found this useful for both home and school. This would be helpful to use for a check off list a completed task or assignment. The student could complete this jobs as a transition throughout their day. The two tools that I definitely recommend is iGoogle and the Ta da list. The Ta da list was not to much work but remembering to do the list before shopping is key.

I used the aspusandbox wiki tool. I had to create an account so that I could edit the front page. I had to search for the upload browser so it took me some time to upload a photo. Wiki is great if you want to share and be heard. I love that you can edit a web page without having to have credentials. It's your opinion being heard. This is a great collaboration tool. This is an opportunity to network with others you may not have a chance to reach face-to-face.

I chose Gliffy's flow chart and bubbl.us mind chart. I felt that bubbl.us mind chart was almost the same as a flow chart. The Gliffy flow chart had lots of shapes and features to create your chart. A person could chose to use their two design charts or work from a blank format. I used the blank format and inserted the design boxes, arrows and colors myself. I chose these tools because they were simple to use. I disliked Gliffy's policy to create a premium account if you wanted to save, share, or email your document. The premium account was only free for 30 days. I decided not to take the chance of having to pay for an account. These two tools are useful visual aids for students, parents, and teachers.
Thing # 13
This web tool could be a useful tool to students that are at home sick. It would eliminate being behind on in classroom activities. You would be able to send your students a test study guides and an open book test to be completed at home. It could also be used for letters to parents, refresher activities, and much more.

Google notebook and google alerts can both be used as a teacher's organizational tools. It alerts can keep you aware of educational changes in your field. The notebook can be use for keeping up with you thoughts and ideas of how your day at school went. You would be able to joint down quick notes of what worked in you curriculum and what did not work. If you have a meeting you could joint do thought that you may want to share with your co-workers. This experience was not a very exciting one for me. I do find it to be very useful for my future classroom.

The easiest method to find a feed is to go syndic8. I found many feeds on the left hand side of the page that you could use. The next one, would have to be Google blogs I put a subject in the window and it sent me to blogs where I could upload it to my Google reader account. The most confusing feed would have to be Technorati and Topix it was not easy finding the RSS on either of these sites to me. A feed that I found to be useful to me is http:// www.thefreedictionary.com. I am not a great speller at times and I have to refer to a dictionary so this is a great find. After I uploaded this to my Google reader account, that they give you a word of the day with it's definition, synonyms, and usage. The most unusal feed would be blippr. I encounter small picture or animated figures with a strange arrangement of words and numbers. Another useful feed, that I was able to pull up was a news feed with Google blogs with no problem it was very easy to do. I entered weather in the window at the top and it took me there.
Thing # 10
I really did not like this at all. I found it to be difficult to use and I do not care if all of my feeds are in the same place. I love surfing the web no matter how many times I have to enter a URL. This would be great if you are doing a presentation to your co-workers or parents. This would allow easy access to different links. Teacher's who have blogs set up for students and parents would be able to take advantage of this because they could have a feed to every student or parent that needed to be contacted. If a student has assignments that a posted online the teacher could have a feed to all students in one place such as D2L. I do like that items can be shared amongst others and if you have a google account everything is connected together.

I double clicked into ComicStrip Generator.com and first chose my comic strip. I love the antique doll so I chose her. Once I chose her the catchy phrase popped into my head. I love the relistic look of the photo.
To upload my photos I used the right click on my mouse. Next, I clicked on save as picture and then I was able to upload the to my blog. I also had to go to the very bottom of the page and copy the html code to link it to my blog.

I created this after thinking about the 80's hit song, "Somebodies Watching Me." This one eyed monster from "Monster's Inc." is so cute I could not resist adding him to my post.

I decided to add a glitter sign from Happy Face Generator. I went into logo chose the sparkling glitz color. I added my text wording and customized the them. Then, I was able to upload the sign by a right click, and saving it to my computer. The final step was to upload to my blog and copy the html code.

http://www.flickr.com/photos/jeffclow/2378303762/
I choose this picture because the wild rabbit was cute and innocent. Flickr is a great Web 2.0 tool for a person who has an artistic eye. Majority of the photo's I have seen was beyond my digital camera status. It it great for people with the same views or interest to connect. If you love beautiful photos from all walks of life join flickr. It is a way for people to see the world without leaving there home. The down side is the topics are not narrow enough when you search so you could have to thumb through lots of photos. But the vivid colorful photos are worth the trouble. You can create your own mementos. A person can make things like calendars, poster, prints, and collages. Flickr seems to be a hobby website that families and individuals can enjoy.
Thing # 6
The Web awards tool that I explored was http://www.mint.com . I lwas pulled in by the mint color of the web design. It had many tools that you could use such as adding your bank accounts, debts, investment accounts, automobiles, credit score, etc. This tool allows families or indivdulals to sets up a budget for their household and gives ideas on how to save. The system is a read only system so if a hacker tried to steal out of your account they can not switch money around in your accounts. The system is also on a banking system of secured. Mint also has additional security for there site. This sight is great for someone who wants to organize their finances. I did not like that the value of you vehicle was not attainable through the site. I am happy that I chose to play with this tool. I recently saw an article advising this site so it was an opportunity for me to utilize the site. The features are helpful and easy to use. I do not find this site useful to the school or library unless it was used for a parent workshop. Some parents would love to learn more about money management and it would be a great to for a parent liaison.

School 2.0 means a new way of giving instruction and learning. Teacher's can use it for social networking, learning games, digital resource such as : how a volcano erupts, but most districts will not allow the use of this technology in the classroom setting. This would be a great tool for the future. This would allow more organization in the school system as well as less paper work that requires writing. There is a negative side to technology, it is people do not value writing hand written letters anymore. They prefer to text, email and twitter each other. In the future, hand written letters would be worth a lot of money.
This type of learning and record keeping would allow information to be transferred faster within the districts. I also feel that this would allow more networking with other countries. Our children could be bilingual just like other students in other countries that already speak English with proficiency. Technology like School 2.0 would be great as long as it is monitored. The monitoring of this system in the schools may create a new job opportunity for communities.

After my experience of someone responding to my comment on their blog, made me feel like we were connected. I had the feeling that we were on one accord with a topic as simple as fish. I made an error on my comment and she still commented with love. Her response made me feel a sense of community. I feel that people do want you to read their blogs and comment with respect and in return you are entitled to the same treatment, which was discussed in the readings. Secondly, I feel that you should find blogs that actually interest you because you are more likely to comment.
I left comments on seven blogs which are the following:
Heather Atkins Heather's 23
I chose Heather's, because she is a classmate and she has a beautiful blog.
Tamara Marts Tamara's 3040
I chose Tamara' s, because of her ideas and she is a fellow classmate.
Lindsey Maholland Mumbles from Maholland
I chose Lindsey's, because she is a classmate and her name was unique and catchy.
Stacy Cox Stacy's 23 things
I chose Stacy's, because of the ideas and and her being my classmate.
Gena Carter my 23 things
I needed one more blog and I wanted it to be a classmate.
Jessica Gerald http://christianmilitarywivescentral.blogspot.com Learn to Pace your Housework
I chose this site, because I am a christian and a military wife. I enjoyed the blog articles and the appearance of the blog.
Michelle Stern http://whatscookingblog.com Not All Tuna is Created Equal- What's the Catch?
I chose this site, because I love to eat. I always look for information that I can use to eat more healthy. This was absolutely my favorite blog.
I chose to uplift others in my comments. You can always find something that is worth learning from each individual. I love encouraging others to keep going and to see how wonderful they really are. I have encountered so many great ideas. This is a great way to show your creativity and get ideas from others. At first, I was not going to use the http://whatscookingblog.com because of the typo I had made. Although, once Mrs. Stern replied, I had to chalk it up to a great learning experience she respond back with love and did not mention the typo at all.

As a teacher I feel that you could use a blog as a newsletter for parents, post homework assignments, extra activities that would be held after school such as clubs, sports, etc. I think a teacher can use blogs for peer to peer solutions on how to solve problems responsibly. Teacher's can share activities that have worked in their classroom. They could send encouraging messages to co-workers, parents and students. Students could receive blogs for examples classwork exercises and writing prompts. A teacher can use blogs for reflecting back on new and old activities or lesson plans. This would help you to adjust lesson plans and activities that did not go smoothly. Blogging exposes you to new information, ideas, and learning experiences.

I came up with my posting name because it is shows ownership to the required assignments that I have and will accomplish. Creating this blog was easy and it reminds me of the 2009 movie Julie and Julia. My avatar looks like me on occasion. I frequently change my style it definitely shows my real self.

Learning is defined as acquiring a new skill or knowledge. I recently experienced a tutorial on the Seven 1/2 Habits of Highly Successful Lifelong Learners. I would like to tell you that I have all of these Seven 1/2 qualities but I do not. I found some more attainable than others. I found the following habits to be easy: 1. begin with the end in mind, 2.accept responsibility for your own learning, 5. create your own learning toolbox, 6. use technology to your advantage, 7. teaching/mentoring others, 1/2. Play! I love to set goals for myself an accomplish them. Responsibility is automatic for a mother that wants to show a spirit of excellence to her children. Creating new ideas for anything I do is super exciting for me. I am always excited if there is an easier way of doing things and technology is a fantastic way to take a load off. Teaching and mentoring is rewarding because you get to share your life experiences with someone else. Play is considered to be the 1/2 and I find it important because everyone needs a little fun in their life. I love to enjoy life and my surroundings so play is a must. The two habits that I found to be hard are 3. view problems as challenges, 4. have confidence in yourself as a competent effective learner. I view problems as mountains majority of the time. I will begin to see these problems as challenges. When I don't have confidence in a certain subject or area I feel incompetent. I have come to the conclusion that a lifelong learner is an open minded person that is willing to experience many different avenues of life.
I would like to learn more about Web 2.0 tools by knowing how the tools actually work. How to post not only blogs but videos and pictures. How communication can be improved upon using Web 2.0 tools instead of having to use regular emailing. I found these tools to be useful and easy to use.
